I am ONE – Taking advice part 1

It is a major misconception that baptism saves. Now, dont get me wrong, it can save you however…

“Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life” Romans 6:4

Our Heavenly Father gave us all the tools necessary to lead a life that’s pleasing to Him and one that will guarantee an eternity in heaven. The bible is filled with instructions, advice and accounts of past events meant to fuel our faith in the one, true and living God.

I was baptized in November 2015. I attended church on some Sundays and I expected God’s richest blessings. What a joke!

Baptism can save you, but baptism in and of itself will not save you.

Attending church can save you, but attending church alone will not save you.

You must do more. It is imperative

Don’t you want to go to heaven?

Dont you want to hear “well done my child” ?

Are you understanding what I’m saying?

I am taking advice (Part 1)

Romans 6:4 advises us to walk in the newness of life and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Baptism signifies death to sin and the world and resurrection as a new creation having received the Holy Spirit as a gift.

I struggled as a babe in Christ for a long time beacuse I did not walk in the newness of life. I did not know how to to be honest. Thank God for His infinite wisdom though. If you are, like I was, then the first thing you need to do is

* Forgive yourself of past mistakes and sins. You are living a NEW LIFE. Those past sins died when you gave your life to Jesus. He forgave you already, why are you still beating yourself up? You are wasting time. Isaiah 1:18 says tough your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. My bible don’t lie!

* Wow! Lamentations 3 22:23 endorses Isaiah 1 : 18. We are not consumed because of the Lord’s mercies which are made new every morning. So even if you are in a backslidden state. GET UP! DUST YOURSELF OFF! REPENT! MOVE ON! Why? Because God is faithful and He wants to do a new thing in you everyday. Your today is not your yesterday. Today’s mercy is better than yesterday’s. If you want it, take this advice and run with it.

* It gets better. My spirit is rejoicing as I type. Psalm 23:6 says goodness and mercy follows you all the days of you life. If you are not excited about that, then …

Dont be you own worst enemy! Unforgiveness makes you a prisoner of your own mind. In this state of heightend guilt and shame, you give access to the enemy to have his way with you. Beware! Trust me on this one. Moving forward starts with forgiveness of self.

Just Saying

You have a new life, my brother. You have a new life, my sister. Great power was handed to you by a God who truly loves you and the enemy is only good at bluffing. He can’t do “nothin to ya”. FORGIVE YOURSELF AND START WALKIN’ The world needs you!

Be blessed

I awake, I pray.

I awake, I praise.

I awake, I’m discouraged.

I believe that God is real, that Jesus died for me. I believe His promises.

I also love God and His word,

Lately, I cant take my mind off God, which is a good thing. When I pray, I often ask for a greater connection to my Heavenly Father and Holy Spirit.
Truth is, even when i’m discouraged or withdrawn God is on my mind.

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast” psalm139:7-10

Father, I thank you for your presence. It keeps me but i still have questions.

If you are always with me, why am I hurting?

If you are always with me, why do things always go wrong?

If you are always with me, why do I always lose?

If you are always with me, why Lord, WHY?

Many are the reasons why Christians become discouraged

  • We are a busy bunch of people aren’t we? In 24hrs, we work, we socialize, we do chores, we can barely find time to rest, etc.
  • Priorities, priorities, priorities. Go to church or hit the beach? After all I love the beach and its not that often that I go. Spend personal time with God or see what’s trending now? Well, since my phone is already in my hand, scroll now, pray at bedtime.
  • We have needs. To me its like the more we get, its the more we want. Why is that? God blesses us in different ways, yet we compare. Some of us dont know how to be happy for others when they have been blessed. Then we develop “needs”. Mind your business!

There is not enough room or time to list everything that has the potential to distract or discourage the Christian.

Let me be clear though.

There are things that the devil knows that you don’t. And please dont underestimate his cleverness. He knows what to do to you pull you away from God. He knows how to entice you, how to distract you, how to make you feel good, how to make you feel like you are not good at all.

But God.

What ever you are going through. GOD IS WITH YOU.

However you are feeling right now, GOD IS WITH YOU.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze”. Isaiah 43:2

Just saying

Christians from time to time, become discouraged in their walk with Christ. My advice to you therefore is to list the things that spiritually disconnects you from God. Beware of habits and/or situations that causes disconnesction. Confess them to God. Make it you business to work at making your connection to God better and stronger with every new day. Finally, trust God for restoration.

Be blessed!

“I know who God says I am, what He says I am, where He says I’m at, I know who I am”

Catchy song, right? Thank you Sinach!

Stop singing it and say it!

Say it again, this time trace the consistency between those lyrics and the truth. Do you know who you are in Christ? Do you represent him well?

Can you really sing that song?

Now let’s leave the song alone and figure this out.

I am a new creation

I remember when i willingly died and rose again, completely transformed into a new creation.

I was amongst God’s people listening to the pastor preach. At the end he made an altar call to those who wanted to give their lives to Christ. I was made to say the sinner’s prayer, a prayer that changed my life immediately.

With one prayer, I publicly confessed my belief and faith in Jesus Christ. I asked God to sit on the throne of my heart and life. I repented. I confessed that I was washed clean by the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ. That was only part one.

Part two is where the action began. I was baptized!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things become new – 2 Cor 5 :17

Baptism is not just some cool ceremony. It’s the very foundation of the Christian life and yes it’s required.

You are required to be baptized in order for you sins to be forgiven. You are required to be baptized in order to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:35-40.

I got baptized in the ocean. I considered each step that I made from the car park to the ocean, a step closer to death. I was ecstatic to be dying. Once in the ocean, I was completely submersed. I died and was buried! Symbolically I died with Christ, was buried with Him and was pulled up from beneath the water. I was resurrected with Him.

Look closer! I am a new creation!

Baptism is so serious, that even Jesus humbled His perfect self and submitted to it as an example of what is expected of us. A decision to be baptized is a decision to walk in obedience and faith.

Please don’t be deterred by comments such as ” a Christian walk is too hard” or ” I am too young to be baptized”. While you are waiting for the walk to get easier or for the Lord to bless you with more birthdays, what are you doing? How are you living? The bible in Matthew 7 says “enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction and many there be which go in there at. Strait is the gate and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life and few there be that find it”

My bible doesn’t lie. Stand and be counted as one of the few that finds said strait gate. There are so many scriptures that can be quoted to lend aid to the points above, but I think you get it.

Congratulations to you if you already are a new creation. It is my hope that you continue to grow spiritually. If getting baptized is still a pending decision, it is my hope that rou reread the scriptures quoted, find like scriptures and apply them.

Be blessed.

Just saying

Other words for baptize: Immerse, dip, bury, sink, dunk, plunge, submerge, submerse.

Be sure that you are baptized at the end of your baptism ceremony. Notice above, the synonyms for the word baptize. Nowhere does it say sprinkle or pour over. Think about it, how can you be buried with Christ with only a sprinkle of water?

“And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there” – John 3:23

” And Jesus when He was baptized, went up straightway out of the water” – Matthew 3:16

“And He commanded the chariot to stand still and they went down both into the water, both Phillip and Eunuch; and he baptized them” – Acts 8:88
